An alternative childbirth series that with group support helps couples discover what they need to know to have a most satisfying birth. Through group discussion, parents’ art, films, journaling and interactive exercises couples have fun learning how to be fully present at their child’s birth. Includes information on pain coping techniques, role of the birth partner, preparing for parenthood and infant feeding. 6-8 weeks (2 ½ hours/class)
For the woman confined to bed rest or the couple who has difficulty scheduling a weekly class. Sessions are held in the privacy of the woman’s home and are designed to meet the couple’s specific needs in preparing for birth and parenting. Many of the same techniques are used as in the group classes. Private classes are usually divided into three two-hour sessions depending on the needs of the couple.
This group or private class series is designed for parents wishing to review their previous labor and birth experiences and to learn new ways to deal with their upcoming labor. Many of the same techniques are used as in the group classes. Class participants will help determine class content and number of sessions.

About your instructor:
Esther Hausman, RN is a certified childbirth educator and Positive Pregnancy and Parenting Fitness instructor. She has been teaching classes to pregnant and postpartum families for over a decade. She has been training with Pam England, CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) since 1991 in the philosophies and unique methods of childbirth preparation found in her book, Birthing from Within, (Partera Press, 1998) www.birthingfromwithin.com
